A few weeks ago the nice people at Bloc Salon on Rivington Street in Shoreditch invited MAIDEN to hold a pop up event at the salon to celebrate the Jubilee and the Olympics (we're calling it the JUBILYMPICS)!
We've chosen our favourite images of Queen Elizabeth II and created a lovely collage. We think it looks amazing! The quote alongside the collage is from the speech that the newly crowned Queen made on the evening of her coronation day, 2nd June 1953:
"Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust"
We've also displayed our matching set of Diamond Jubilee tea towels (designed exclusively for MAIDEN by Luke James).
We've also displayed our very favourite pieces of royal memorabilia. We love these items dearly, but they're still for sale any way!!
Please do pop into to BLOC SALON , 14 Rivington Street EC2A 3DU London to take a look for yourselves, whilst your there you should consider getting your hair cut too! They're excellent!

DIAMOND JUBILEE TEA TOWELS AT MAIDEN

To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee MAIDEN asked London based illustrator Luke James
to create and produce this glorious set of tea towels!
Luke's stunning designs for these tea towels make a playful nod towards the fact that 2012 is not only the year of the Diamond Jubilee but also the year of the London Olympics! The Queen is variously depicted on a podium, in a photo finish at the end of a race and in a medal.
The Tea Towels are a limited edition of 100 per design and are printed on 100% cotton.
Each tea towel will sell for £16.50 or £40 for the set of three.
The measurements are 45cm x 72cm.
Queen Elizabeth II is currently the second longest reigning English monarch. In another 3 years she could become the longest reigning monarch by surpassing Queen Victoria's record.
The last time a Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in Britain was Queen Victoria's in 1897 and the last Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the World took place in 2006 when Thailand celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the accession of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The Tea Towels are currently on sale at MAIDEN, 188 Shoreditch High Street and will shortly be available to buy online exclusively at CULTURELABEL

To commemorate the impending nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton talented London based illustrator Luke James has taken inspiration from classic boxing match posters when creating his punchy design for this “Royal Rumble” tea towel. It's a limited edition of just 40 and we've grabbed them all and we're selling it exclusively online through our friends at CULTURELABEL.COM
Each tea towel is 100% cotton and has been screen printed by Luke in his Hoxton studio using eco-friendly inks.
Each tea towel is hand finished and is a real knock out!
Luke James graduated from Bournemouth Arts Institute, UK in 2006 and has been enjoying life as a busy freelance illustrator ever since. He creates work for a variety of different clients.
Some of these include The Sunday Times, The Sunday Express, Marks & Spencer, Barton Wilmore, Earthborn Paints, Howies, 55DSL, Amelia's Magazine and Notion Magazine.
A strong discipline in drawing and an obsession with mark making and line-quality form the basis of Luke's illustration. Luke's aim is to maintain the balance between new digital media and traditional, craft-based media, embracing past, present and future techniques.
